Behavioral Based Interview Questions

All new candidates or volunteers who will have exposure to children within the WWFY facility will be given at least three behavioral-based questions during the interview to assess abuse risk.

All new candidates or volunteers who will have exposure to children within the WWFY facility will be given at least three behavioral-based questions during the interview to assess abuse risk. A sample of behavioral based questions are listed below.  A supervisor must ask at least three behavioral-based interview questions.  

Hiring managers will be responsible for reviewing and confirming they have met the minimum screening requirement.  

For potential volunteers, these questions must be asked the WWFY employee who will be responsible for overseeing the volunteer. The questions and answers must be documented and kept in a secure file. 

Sample of Behavioral Based Interview Questions: 

  1. Tell me about a time a child(ren) you were responsible for was acting very defiantly and not listening to your instructions. What steps did you take to resolve the issue? 
  2. Describe what you would do, as someone who is responsible for overseeing children in our programs, regardless of age, engaging in behavior that was considered inappropriate? 
  3. Tell me about a time when someone commended you for your good judgment and common sense. What was the situation and how did you handle the situation?
